HBCSD Schools Shine Bright This Holiday Season Through Acts of Kindness

Posted Date: 12/19/24 (5:00 PM)

The holiday season is a time of joy, togetherness, and giving—and the Huntington Beach City School District (HBCSD) has been at the heart of inspiring, student-led initiatives that embody these values. Guided by our district theme, HBCSD Empowers, our students have taken the lead in organizing efforts demonstrating their compassion, generosity, and dedication to making a meaningful impact in their community and beyond.

These student-driven projects support local and national causes and empower our learners with essential life skills such as empathy, collaboration, and civic responsibility, while at the same time fostering a sense of community. Let’s celebrate the incredible acts of kindness and leadership across HBCSD.

Smith Elementary School

Smith Elementary organized a food drive to benefit Robyne’s Nest, providing essential supplies to support local youth experiencing difficult times. This initiative meets immediate needs and demonstrates to students how small acts of kindness can create a ripple effect of positive change.

CSEA and District Office Team

Our Classified School Employees Association (CSEA) organized a toy drive to bring joy to students within our district, making sure every child feels the holiday spirit. Meanwhile, the District Office team embraced the season of giving by setting up a Giving Tree and adopting local families in need with thoughtful, personalized gifts and assistance during this festive time.

These initiatives are made possible by the incredible generosity of our students, families, staff, and community members. Your kindness has made a meaningful impact on those receiving these gifts and on our students, who are learning that the true spirit of the holiday season lies in giving back.

To everyone who contributed—thank you. Your support ensures we continue fostering a culture of kindness and civic engagement across our schools. Together, we empower students to grow into compassionate, community-minded individuals who can improve the world.
