Huntington Beach City School District is proud to be a leader in the use of Common Core State Standards to guide and promote rigorous teaching and learning. The Common Core State Standards were created by experts and teachers from across the United States to establish clear, consistent guidelines for what EVERY student should know and be able to do in Mathematics and English Language Arts from Kindergarten through 12th grade.  The standards detail what students are to learn at specific grade levels throughout their elementary years.  With this new implementation, students will be expected to apply their learning by focusing on the development of their critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.  Common Core was developed to prepare students to be successful for the demands of colleges and businesses.
