Upcoming Family Leave Notice
From February 11-21, I will be taking my final family leave of the year to spend time with our now five-month-old.
During this time, Don Mahoney, a veteran principal and assistant superintendent who covered for me at the start of the school year, will be back on campus. As I’ve shared before, our staff feels fully supported, and there will be no disruptions to our daily operations and programs.
Thank you for your continued support - I look forward to seeing everyone back on February 24.

5th Grade Playground Update
Great news! The new 5th grade playground is on schedule to be installed toward the end of the month. To allow for construction, a section of the playground will be fenced off during the install. While we typically schedule projects like this during school breaks, I opted to move forward as soon as possible so our 5th graders can enjoy their new play structure without delay.
As I learned from a similar installation at Moffett years ago, watching the playground come to life often becomes its own playground activity—so don’t be surprised if your child comes home with updates! Of course, plans can always shift, and if they do, I’ll share any changes here.
A huge thank you to our Eader community for making this project possible—this playground will be a fantastic addition for all students to enjoy! More details to come.
After-School Art Class – Registration Now Open

A Message From Eader's School Counselor
Hello Parents, During the month of February, I will be teaching our students about the importance of Good Sportsmanship. Throughout the lessons, I will be defining what good sportsmanship looks like, how to be a good sport in different situations, and what are some ways to show good sportsmanship even when we are disappointed about losing a game. Parents can help their child learn to be a good sport by helping them define what “good sportsmanship” is when playing a game, following the rules, and accepting the outcome of winning or losing and keeping a positive attitude. It is also important to set a good example at home by showing your child that it is ok to lose, and to discuss how you feel after winning or losing a game. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at plennon@hbcsd.us

Parking Lot Safety Reminder
Please help keep our students safe by driving carefully and observing all traffic safety signs and speed limits around our school.
- When leaving the parking lot, only right turns are allowed.
- Do not park or leave your vehicle in any area marked with a red curb.
- For safety, please ensure your child exits and enters your vehicle on the curbside only.
- Please continue to pull forward until you are immediately behind the car in front of you while waiting to pick up your child. This will help eliminate parents cutting in front of each other and prevent dangerous maneuvers.
- As a safety reminder, please do not park in the center roundabout to exit your car and walk through traffic to pick up your child. This is dangerous and disrupts the flow of traffic.
Thank you for helping keep our drop-off and pick-up areas safe and efficient for everyone! Your cooperation ensures the safety of our Eader community.
