Good Morning Eader Families,

Please see the information and updates below for the week of October 20:

School News

Important PTA Fundraising Information

This Friday at our morning assembly, we’ll be kicking off our annual PTA fundraiser.

While the event will include fun experiences and treats for students, I want to take a moment to emphasize what this fundraiser truly supports - the best possible educational programming for  our Eader students.

Every dollar raised directly impacts your child’s educational experience at Eader. These funds support:

Classroom supplies, resources, and curriculum for students

Teacher stipends totaling $600 per teacher to enhance classroom learning

Art programming provided throughout the year by Art and Soul

Community events such as Beach Day, Movie Night, Playground Preview, Reading Nights, and Field Day

Field trips for all students, with all expenses covered (including significant bus costs)

Assemblies throughout the year that bring enrichment and excitement to campus

Campus beautification projects - new playgrounds, murals, garden beds, benches, and outdoor learning spaces

School celebrations and decorations for events like the first day of school and promotions

Staff Appreciation Week, recognizing the hard work and dedication of our teachers and staff

While I look forward to the excitement the fundraiser brings, I want to be very clear: the true reward is how these funds enrich the educational experience for every child at Eader Elementary.

Thank you for believing in our students, supporting our teachers, and helping Eader be its very best.

Celebrating Mrs. Prager’s Retirement & Informing Your Child

After 12 years in the Huntington Beach City School District, and more than 8 of those years here at Eader, our school librarian, Mrs. Julie Prager will be retiring, with her last day being Friday, October 31.

Mrs. Prager is a very special and beloved member of our school community. She is one of the few staff members known by every student, and her retirement will be an emotional moment for many of our students who look forward to seeing her each week in the library.

Next week, during class library visits, Mrs. Prager will be sharing the news of her upcoming retirement with classes. I wanted to share this information with our community in advance, as many of you have come to know and appreciate Mrs. Prager and may wish to express your gratitude and good wishes.

As parents, you know your children best. Some may take this news to heart, so you may choose to let them know in a way and time that feels right for your family.

Please be aware that although Mrs. Prager will be sharing the news directly with her classes, it’s possible that some students may learn of her retirement beforehand through conversations with peers.

We are deeply grateful for the joy, kindness, and love of reading that Mrs. Prager has brought to Eader over the years. She will be greatly missed, and we wish her all the best in this exciting next chapter.

Dine Out Night - Thursday, October 23rd

Mark your calendars! Our second Dine Out Night of the year will be held on Thursday, October 23rd at Pizza D’Oro.

This is a wonderful local restaurant that generously supports our staff with free meals throughout the year, and now we have the chance to support them, and our school in return.

Be sure to stop by between 5:00 - 7:00 pm, when I’ll be helping serve pizza. It’s sure to be a fun (and tasty) night for our whole community.

Please note that due to the limited seating capacity of the dining room, take-out plans may be the best option.

We have two assemblies coming up this month:

• Friday, October 24 at 8:40 am - October School Assembly - Fun Run and School Musical Kickoff (families welcome to attend)

The Eader Gala is Back - Share Your Thoughts!

The Eader PTA is excited to begin planning our upcoming this year's Gala, and we want to ensure it reflects the interests and preferences of our amazing school community. Whatever you envision - your input matters!

This event will raise vital funds to support many needs for our students and school, so let’s make it a great success together.

Please take a few minutes to complete the short survey below to share your ideas. Your feedback will help shape the gala’s theme, activities, food, music, location, and more to make it enjoyable and accessible for everyone.

Thank you for your support - we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Yearbook Photo Request - Family Picnic (we still need your photos!)

We had such a great time at this year's Family Picnic, and we’d love to capture those memories in this year’s yearbook!

If you snapped any photos, please take a moment to click the link below and upload your favorites. Your contributions help make our yearbook extra special!

Thank you for helping us showcase the amazing moments that make our Eader community so special.

Spring Sing - Save the Dates

Based on parent feedback from last year, we’ll be spreading out Spring Sing over two months instead of holding all grade-level performances in a single week. Families shared that it was difficult to take off work multiple times in such a short span, especially for those with more than two children performing. Our hope is that by splitting the event between May and June, families will have more flexibility with scheduling.

Looking way ahead, here are the dates we’ve set so you can mark your calendars:

Friday, May 8 - Grades TK, K, and 1

Friday, June 5 - Grades 2, 3, and 4

Please note that Grade 5 performs at promotion - Wednesday, June 17 (our last day of school).

November is Eader & Food Service’s  Month to Shine!

As part of HBCSD’s Shoreline Standouts Staff Recognition Program, November spotlights Eader Elementary and the Food Services Department. This monthly program celebrates the incredible people who go above and beyond to make our schools exceptional.

We invite staff and families to help us recognize a certificated or classified team member who supports others, brings their best every day, and makes a positive impact on our community.

How to Nominate:

Complete the short form here: Nomination Form

Deadline: October 31, 2025

Each month, honorees will be celebrated across the District through social media, newsletters, certificates, and recognition at their site.

Your nomination helps shine a light on the everyday excellence happening at Dwyer, Transportation, and across HBCSD. Thank you for joining us in celebrating our people, our purpose, and the work we do together!

Parking Lot Safety & Efficiency

With only a single lane entering and exiting our school parking lot, please keep in mind that one car has the ability to severely impact and hold up the entire line. To help keep traffic moving and ensure safety:

• Please have your child prepared to leave the vehicle safely and quickly on the curbside (school side).

• Stay in your car at all times.

• Pull up as far as you can, even past the gate, so the maximum number of cars can unload along the curb.

• Do not pull in front of other cars if there is a hold up.

• Safety is always our top priority—thank you for your support.

Additional reminders:

• Please drive carefully and observe all traffic safety signs and speed limits around the school.

• When leaving the parking lot, right turns only are permitted.

• Do not park or leave your vehicle in any area marked with a red curb.

• Children should always enter and exit vehicles from the curbside only.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation in keeping our students safe and supporting the smooth flow of traffic in our Eader community.
