Tile Painting at Family Reading Night - Thursday, February 26

One of the most loved traditions on our campus is back at this year’s Family Reading Night—tile painting. If you’ve ever admired the handmade tiles created by Eader students and families that decorate our campus, this is your opportunity to be part of that tradition.

Families will have the chance to design and paint their own tile during the event, creating a lasting piece of art that becomes part of our school community. Tiles must be purchased in advance, so please be sure to use the link below to reserve yours ahead of time.

We look forward to seeing the creativity and memories that come to life during Family Reading Night.

A Message From our School Counselor, Mr. Paul Lennon

During the month of February, I will be teaching our upper grade students how to resolve conflicts with others peacefully, while our primary grade students will be learning the difference between reporting versus tattling.

In the conflict resolution lesson, students will learn what a conflict is, how to actively listen to other's point of view, using an "I" message to communicate their thoughts and feelings and steps to resolve conflicts appropriately.

In the reporting versus tattling lesson, students will learn the difference between reporting something to a trusted adult versus tattling on someone just to get them into trouble. Students will also learn when it is necessary to report to an adult so that they can get the help they need, especially in safety situations.

Parents of our upper grade students can help their child learn to resolve conflicts by helping them identify when a conflict occurs, the importance of seeing things from the other person’s perspective, and how to communicate how they feel and what they may need from the other person.

Parents of our primary grade students can help their child learn the difference between reporting and tattling by helping them understand what it means to report an incident versus tattling to get someone in trouble. It is important for children to know that they can come talk to you about anything, especially if they or someone they know needs help, but tattling on others to get someone in trouble should be discouraged.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me, Mr. Lennon, at plennon@hbcsd.us

Reminder: Returning to School After Illness

To help keep our students and staff healthy, please review the following guidelines when deciding if your child is ready to return to school after being ill.

Students may return to school when:

• They have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication

• Vomiting, nausea, or diarrhea have been absent for 24 hours

• A communicable illness has been treated and the required treatment period has been completed

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school community healthy.

Lost & Found Reminder - Fridays Before School

If your child is missing a jacket, sweatshirt, lunch container, or water bottle, please take a moment to check our Lost & Found.

The Lost & Found will be set out on the curb on Fridays before school, making it easy to quickly look through items at drop-off and pick-up.

Unclaimed items will be donated periodically, so we encourage families to check regularly.

Reporting Student Attendance

If your child will be absent, please remember to notify the school by either calling our attendance line at (714) 962-2451 and leaving a message, or by emailing eaderattendance@hbcsd.us

Reporting absences promptly helps us keep accurate records, ensure student safety, and maintain clear communication between home and school.

Thank you for your support and partnership.

Parking Lot Safety & Efficiency

With only a single lane entering and exiting our school parking lot, please keep in mind that one car has the ability to severely impact and hold up the entire line. To help keep traffic moving and ensure safety:

• Please have your child prepared to leave the vehicle safely and quickly on the curbside (school side).

• Stay in your car at all times.

• Pull up as far as you can, even past the gate, so the maximum number of cars can unload along the curb.

• Do not pull in front of other cars if there is a hold up.

• Safety is always our top priority—thank you for your support.

Additional reminders:

• Please drive carefully and observe all traffic safety signs and speed limits around the school.

• When leaving the parking lot, right turns only are permitted.

• Do not park or leave your vehicle in any area marked with a red curb.

• Children should always enter and exit vehicles from the curbside only.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation in keeping our students safe and supporting the smooth flow of traffic in our Eader community.
