School Safety Update - February
As part of our ongoing commitment to student safety, we held an earthquake drill on Tuesday, February 3. During the drill, the entire school successfully evacuated in 3 minutes and 10 seconds. Teachers shared that students exited buildings quietly, respectfully, and in an orderly manner, and were able to move efficiently to their designated evacuation areas.
Additionally, on Monday, February 23, we conducted our monthly secure drill, which was another successful practice for our school community.
Parents, a helpful way you can continue to support school safety is by closing gates behind you when leaving campus and reminding students that during drills it is important to stay calm and carefully follow teacher and adult directions.
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our campus safe.
School Attendance Update - February
Our attendance rate for February was 95.51%. For comparison, our attendance rate in February of last year was 95.6%. While we are very close to last year’s rate, we know that every day counts and even small gains make a meaningful difference over time.
With our recent three-day weekends behind us and a longer stretch of school ahead before spring break in early April, this is a crucial time for strong attendance. After spring break, the school year always seems to move quickly, so let’s really make the most of these next few weeks.
Being present and on time each day allows students to fully engage in learning and maintain important classroom routines. Instruction begins right away each morning, and punctuality plays a big role in setting students up for success.
Thank you for your continued support in getting students to school each day and for prioritizing regular attendance. Your partnership truly makes a difference.

Reminder: Returning to School After Illness
To help keep our students and staff healthy, please review the following guidelines when deciding if your child is ready to return to school after being ill.
Students may return to school when:
• They have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication
• Vomiting, nausea, or diarrhea have been absent for 24 hours
• A communicable illness has been treated and the required treatment period has been completed
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school community healthy.
Lost & Found Reminder - Fridays Before School
If your child is missing a jacket, sweatshirt, lunch container, or water bottle, please take a moment to check our Lost & Found. The Lost & Found will be set out on the curb on Fridays before school, making it easy to quickly look through items at drop-off. Unclaimed items will be donated periodically, so we encourage families to check regularly. Reporting Student AttendanceIf your child will be absent, please remember to notify the school by either calling our attendance line at (714) 962-2451 and leaving a message, or by emailing eaderattendance@hbcsd.usReporting absences promptly helps us keep accurate records, ensure student safety, and maintain clear communication between home and school. Thank you for your support and partnership. Parking Lot Safety & EfficiencyWith only a single lane entering and exiting our school parking lot, please keep in mind that one car has the ability to severely impact and hold up the entire line. To help keep traffic moving and ensure safety: • Please have your child prepared to leave the vehicle safely and quickly on the curbside (school side). • Stay in your car at all times. • Pull up as far as you can, even past the gate, so the maximum number of cars can unload along the curb. • Do not pull in front of other cars if there is a hold up. • Safety is always our top priority—thank you for your support. Additional reminders: • Please drive carefully and observe all traffic safety signs and speed limits around the school. • When leaving the parking lot, right turns only are permitted. • Do not park or leave your vehicle in any area marked with a red curb. • Children should always enter and exit vehicles from the curbside only. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in keeping our students safe and supporting the smooth flow of traffic in our Eader community.
