March School Safety Update
On Tuesday, March 10, we conducted a fire drill with an evacuation time of 3 minutes, 16 seconds. I’m very pleased to share that teachers reported students did a terrific job following directions, staying quiet, and remaining orderly to ensure a safe and efficient process.
On Friday, March 20, we held our monthly Secure Drill, where staff practiced quickly bringing all students into classrooms and locking doors. Once again, this was a perfect drill.
A big thank you to our staff for their continued focus and commitment to school safety.
March Attendance Update
We’re proud to share that our school attendance continues to improve: 94.9% (2024), 96.1% (2025), and 96.2% (2026). While growth is beginning to level off, even a 0.1% increase is a great sign of the strong partnership between our staff and families.
As we head into the final stretch of the year following spring break, it’s important that we continue to prioritize strong attendance. Meaningful instruction takes place every single day. Even if your family has afternoon or evening plans, please be sure your child is at school for the morning block of instruction.
Thank you for your continued support and for valuing school attendance.

2nd Annual Egg Drop - Thursday, May 14
We’re excited to announce our 2nd Annual Egg Drop taking place on Thursday, May 14!
This year’s event is sure to be one for the books, as we are working with the Huntington Beach Fire Department to drop our eggs from one of their ladder trucks.
This added height will challenge our students to engineer the best possible “egg vehicle” to keep their egg safe and sound. It’s always a fun and engaging event, and a great opportunity for students to apply creativity and problem-solving skills.
This event is open to students in grades 3-5 only - flyers will be sent home in the coming weeks, but we will encourage our students to start brainstorming ideas now!

School Medication Information
If your child requires medication during the school day, please be sure to obtain the required paperwork and detailed instructions from the Eader Health Office. For student safety, medication may not be kept in backpacks or on a student’s person while at school.
All medication must be stored and administered through the Health Office under the supervision of our school health clerk.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students.
Returning to School After Illness
To help keep our students and staff healthy, please review the following guidelines when deciding if your child is ready to return to school after being ill.
Students may return to school when:
• They have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication
• Vomiting, nausea, or diarrhea have been absent for 24 hours
• A communicable illness has been treated and the required treatment period has been completed
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school community healthy.
Reporting Student AttendanceIf your child will be absent, please remember to notify the school by either calling our attendance line at (714) 962-2451 and leaving a message, or by emailing eaderattendance@hbcsd.usReporting absences promptly helps us keep accurate records, ensure student safety, and maintain clear communication between home and school. Thank you for your support and partnership. Parking Lot Safety & EfficiencyWith only a single lane entering and exiting our school parking lot, please keep in mind that one car has the ability to severely impact and hold up the entire line. To help keep traffic moving and ensure safety: • Please have your child prepared to leave the vehicle safely and quickly on the curbside (school side). • Stay in your car at all times. • Pull up as far as you can, even past the gate, so the maximum number of cars can unload along the curb. • Do not pull in front of other cars if there is a hold up. • Safety is always our top priority—thank you for your support. Additional reminders: • Please drive carefully and observe all traffic safety signs and speed limits around the school. • When leaving the parking lot, right turns only are permitted. • Do not park or leave your vehicle in any area marked with a red curb. • Children should always enter and exit vehicles from the curbside only. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in keeping our students safe and supporting the smooth flow of traffic in our Eader community.
