Igniting Young Minds to Reach for a Bright Future

Eader Elementary Weekly Update: April 27-May 1

Posted Date: 04/26/26 (09:00 AM)

Week of April 27

Good Morning Eader Families,

Please see the information and updates below for the week of April 27:

School News

CAASPP Testing Window Approaching (Grades 3–5)

Our CAASPP (California State Testing) window for students in grades 3–5 is quickly approaching over the next few weeks.
These assessments provide valuable information that helps guide instruction, identify student strengths, and highlight areas where additional support may be needed. CAASPP results also contribute to our school’s overall performance and recognition.

For students, this is an opportunity to show what they know and demonstrate the growth they have made throughout the year.
We encourage all students to come to school well-rested, confident, and ready to do their best.

Thank you for your continued support.

Friday, May 8

• TK - 9:15 am

• Kindergarten - 11:00 am

• First Grade - 1:30 pm

Friday, June 5

We look forward to welcoming families to campus to celebrate our students and their hard work in Vocal Music. More details regarding arrival procedures and logistics will be shared as we get closer to each date.

At-Home Access to Spring Sing Music

Our Spring Sing preparations are well underway, and we’re excited to share a helpful resource for families. Our Eader Music Website includes grade-level specific links where students can access and listen to the songs they’ll be practicing for their upcoming performances.

This is a great way for students to become more familiar with the music at home and build confidence as they prepare for Spring Sing. While participation at home is completely optional, we hope many of our students will enjoy the opportunity to practice and sing along outside of school.

2nd Annual Egg Drop - Thursday, May 14 (2:10-2:45 pm)

We’re excited to announce our 2nd Annual Egg Drop taking place on Thursday, May 14!

This year’s event is sure to be one for the books, as we are working with the Huntington Beach Fire Department to drop our eggs from one of their ladder trucks.

This added height will challenge our students to engineer the best possible “egg vehicle” to keep their egg safe and sound. It’s always a fun and engaging event, and a great opportunity for students to apply creativity and problem-solving skills.

This event is open to students in grades 3-5 only - flyers will be sent home on Friday, but we encourage our students to start brainstorming ideas now!

Eader Open House – Thursday, May 21 (6:00–7:00 pm)

We’re excited to welcome our families to Eader Elementary for Open House! This is a wonderful opportunity to visit your child’s classroom, see the incredible work they’ve been doing, and celebrate the growth and learning that has taken place throughout the year.

Students are encouraged to attend with their families and take pride in sharing their classroom, projects, and accomplishments. We look forward to seeing everyone on campus for this special evening!

No School - Monday, May 25 (Memorial Day)

There will be no school on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

This national holiday is a time to honor and remember the men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country. We hope our students and families enjoy the long weekend and take a moment to reflect on the significance of the day.

School will resume on Tuesday, May 26.

Sowers Middle School 6th Grade Parent Information Night - Wednesday, May 27

Sowers Middle School will be hosting a 6th Grade Parent Information Night on Wednesday, May 27 at 6:00 pm.

This is a great opportunity for incoming families to learn more about the transition to middle school, hear from staff, and get important information to help prepare for next year.

Please click the link below to register and confirm your attendance.

Eader Field Day - Monday, June 15

We’re excited to share that Eader Field Day will take place on Monday, June 16!

For our new families, this is a fun and active day where classes rotate through a variety of athletic events on the field and blacktop. It’s always a highlight of the year and a great opportunity for students to build community, show school spirit, and enjoy time together outdoors.

We will be finalizing the event schedule in the coming weeks and will share more details as the date approaches. For now, please be sure to save the date - we’re looking forward to a great day!

School Medication Information

If your child requires medication during the school day, please be sure to obtain the required paperwork and detailed instructions from the Eader Health Office. For student safety, medication may not be kept in backpacks or on a student’s person while at school.

All medication must be stored and administered through the Health Office under the supervision of our school health clerk.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students.

Returning to School After Illness

To help keep our students and staff healthy, please review the following guidelines when deciding if your child is ready to return to school after being ill.

Students may return to school when:

• They have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication

• Vomiting, nausea, or diarrhea have been absent for 24 hours

• A communicable illness has been treated and the required treatment period has been completed

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school community healthy.

Reporting Student Attendance

If your child will be absent, please remember to notify the school by either calling our attendance line at (714) 962-2451 and leaving a message, or by emailing eaderattendance@hbcsd.us

Reporting absences promptly helps us keep accurate records, ensure student safety, and maintain clear communication between home and school.

Thank you for your support and partnership.

Parking Lot Safety & Efficiency

With only a single lane entering and exiting our school parking lot, please keep in mind that one car has the ability to severely impact and hold up the entire line. To help keep traffic moving and ensure safety:

• Please have your child prepared to leave the vehicle safely and quickly on the curbside (school side).

• Stay in your car at all times.

• Pull up as far as you can, even past the gate, so the maximum number of cars can unload along the curb.

• Do not pull in front of other cars if there is a hold up.

• Safety is always our top priority—thank you for your support.

Additional reminders:

• Please drive carefully and observe all traffic safety signs and speed limits around the school.

• When leaving the parking lot, right turns only are permitted.

• Do not park or leave your vehicle in any area marked with a red curb.

• Children should always enter and exit vehicles from the curbside only.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation in keeping our students safe and supporting the smooth flow of traffic in our Eader community.
