CAASPP Testing (Grades 3–5)
Our CAASPP (California State Testing) window for students in grades 3–5 is taking place over the next few weeks.
These assessments provide valuable information that helps guide instruction, identify student strengths, and highlight areas where additional support may be needed. CAASPP results also contribute to our school’s overall performance and recognition.
For students, this is an opportunity to show what they know and demonstrate the growth they have made throughout the year.
We encourage all students to come to school well-rested, confident, and ready to do their best.
Parents, please note that during testing, we will not interrupt class or call students out to deliver forgotten items from home.
Thank you for your continued support.
School Safety Update - April
• Earthquake Drill – April 21: We conducted a full earthquake drill on Tuesday, April 21, and were very pleased with how our students responded. Teachers reported that students followed directions well and did an excellent job during evacuation. Our total evacuation time was 2 minutes and 56 seconds, safely under our 3-minute goal. • Secure Drill – April 15: On Wednesday, April 15, we held another secure drill. During this drill, teachers sweep hallways to bring all students inside, lock classroom doors, and continue normal instruction until the “all clear” is given. Once again, our staff and students completed this drill smoothly. Reminder for Families: To help us maintain a safe campus, please do not enter through gates when another parent or staff member exits. If you are visiting during school hours, always enter through the front office and wear a visitor sticker. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school safe. School Attendance Update - April
We are proud to share that our attendance continues to improve year over year in the month of April: • April 2026: 96.7% • April 2025: 96.3% • April 2024: 94.7% This steady growth is a reflection of the strong partnership between our school and our families - thank you for your continued support as we enter the final stretch of the school year. Please continue to prioritize getting your children to school every day and on time. For our 3rd–5th grade students, consistent attendance is especially important during the testing window to ensure they are set up for success each day. For all students, meaningful instruction takes place every day, and being present truly matters. Thank you for helping us keep this positive momentum going! Staff Appreciation Week - Week of May 4

At-Home Access to Spring Sing Music
Our Spring Sing preparations are well underway, and we’re excited to share a helpful resource for families. Our Eader Music Website includes grade-level specific links where students can access and listen to the songs they’ll be practicing for their upcoming performances.

This year’s event is sure to be one for the books, as we are working with the Huntington Beach Fire Department to drop our eggs from one of their ladder trucks.
This added height will challenge our students to engineer the best possible “egg vehicle” to keep their egg safe and sound. It’s always a fun and engaging event, and a great opportunity for students to apply creativity and problem-solving skills.
This event is open to students in grades 3-5 only - flyers will be sent home on Friday, but we encourage our students to start brainstorming ideas now!

School Medication Information
If your child requires medication during the school day, please be sure to obtain the required paperwork and detailed instructions from the Eader Health Office. For student safety, medication may not be kept in backpacks or on a student’s person while at school.
All medication must be stored and administered through the Health Office under the supervision of our school health clerk.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students.
Returning to School After Illness
To help keep our students and staff healthy, please review the following guidelines when deciding if your child is ready to return to school after being ill.
Students may return to school when:
• They have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication
• Vomiting, nausea, or diarrhea have been absent for 24 hours
• A communicable illness has been treated and the required treatment period has been completed
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school community healthy.
Reporting Student AttendanceIf your child will be absent, please remember to notify the school by either calling our attendance line at (714) 962-2451 and leaving a message, or by emailing eaderattendance@hbcsd.usReporting absences promptly helps us keep accurate records, ensure student safety, and maintain clear communication between home and school. Thank you for your support and partnership. Parking Lot Safety & EfficiencyWith only a single lane entering and exiting our school parking lot, please keep in mind that one car has the ability to severely impact and hold up the entire line. To help keep traffic moving and ensure safety: • Please have your child prepared to leave the vehicle safely and quickly on the curbside (school side). • Stay in your car at all times. • Pull up as far as you can, even past the gate, so the maximum number of cars can unload along the curb. • Do not pull in front of other cars if there is a hold up. • Safety is always our top priority—thank you for your support. Additional reminders: • Please drive carefully and observe all traffic safety signs and speed limits around the school. • When leaving the parking lot, right turns only are permitted. • Do not park or leave your vehicle in any area marked with a red curb. • Children should always enter and exit vehicles from the curbside only. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in keeping our students safe and supporting the smooth flow of traffic in our Eader community.
