Igniting Young Minds to Reach for a Bright Future

Eader Elementary Weekly Update: June 1-5

Posted Date: 05/31/26 (09:00 AM)

Week of June 1

Good Morning Eader Families,

Please see the information and updates below for the week of June 1:

School News

May School Safety Update

The safety of our students and staff continues to remain a top priority at Eader Elementary School. Throughout the month of May, we continued practicing and reinforcing our school safety procedures through monthly drills and preparedness activities.

On Tuesday, May 5, we held our monthly fire drill. Students and staff did an outstanding job, successfully evacuating in 2 minutes and 27 seconds - well under our school goal of three minutes. We are proud of how seriously our students continue to take these drills and appreciate the calm, focused manner in which classrooms evacuated.

On Wednesday, May 20, we conducted our monthly secure drill. During a secure drill, all students and staff move indoors, exterior gates and doors are secured, and learning continues safely inside the classrooms while administration and staff ensure that campus remains secure. Once again, students and staff responded quickly and appropriately, demonstrating the importance of consistent practice and preparedness.

As we enter the final stretch of the school year and continue hosting additional on-campus activities and events, we kindly ask for your continued partnership in helping us maintain a safe campus. Please remember that all visitors must enter through the school office to check in and receive a visitor badge before entering campus. Additionally, when exiting campus, please ensure that all gates are securely closed behind you.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep Eader Elementary safe for all students and staff.

May School Attendance Update

As we enter the final stretch of the school year, I wanted to share a quick attendance update for the month of May:

• May 2026 Attendance Rate: 96.1%

• May 2025 Attendance Rate: 96.4%

• May 2024 Attendance Rate: 95.4%

While we are slightly below last year’s percentage, we continue to remain above our 2024 attendance rate and appreciate the continued support from our families in prioritizing daily school attendance.

With just 13 days remaining in the school year, we ask families to remain committed to ensuring students attend school each day and arrive on time. Every day of instruction matters, and we want all students to finish the year strong academically, socially, and emotionally.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Spring Sing - Vocal Music Performance Schedule - Friday, June 5

Back in October, we shared the dates for our Spring Sing performances, and we’re excited to now provide the finalized performance times:

• Second Grade - 9:15 am

• Third Grade - 11:30 am

• Fourth Grade - 1:30 pm

We look forward to welcoming families to campus to celebrate our students and their hard work in Vocal Music.

Please plan to arrive early, as parking will be impacted. All visitors must enter campus through the school office.

At-Home Access to Spring Sing Music

Our Spring Sing preparations are well underway, and we’re excited to share a helpful resource for families. Our Eader Music Website includes grade-level specific links where students can access and listen to the songs they’ll be practicing for their upcoming performances.

This is a great way for students to become more familiar with the music at home and build confidence as they prepare for Spring Sing. While participation at home is completely optional, we hope many of our students will enjoy the opportunity to practice and sing along outside of school.

Eader Field Day - Monday, June 15

We’re excited to share that Eader Field Day will take place on Monday, June 15!

For our new families, this is a fun and active day where classes rotate through a variety of athletic events on the field and blacktop. It’s always a highlight of the year and a great opportunity for students to build community, show school spirit, and enjoy time together outdoors.

Field Day times are scheduled as follows:

• Grades 2 & 3: 9:00-10:00 am

• Grades 4 & 5: 11:00 am-12:00 pm

• TK, Kindergarten & 1st Grade: 1:00-2:00 pm

Parents are welcome to attend and cheer on our students throughout the day. We’re looking forward to a great event!

Field Day Volunteers Needed!

Field Day is right around the corner, and we are in need of parent volunteers to help make this exciting day a success! Field Day is always one of the highlights of the school year and truly an event that families do not want to miss.

Volunteering is a great way to be right in the center of all of the action, fun, and excitement while helping create a memorable experience for our students. Thank you in advance for your support and willingness to help make this special day possible.

Important Dates for Incoming TK and Kindergarten Families

As we approach the end of the school year, preparations are already underway for the 2026-2027 school year.

If you have a child who will be entering TK or kindergarten next year, please note the following important dates:

• TK and Kindergarten Assessments: Tuesday, August 25 and Wednesday, August 26

• TK and Kindergarten Teacher Meet and Greet: Monday, August 31 at 2:30 pm

Please add these dates to your calendar. More information will be shared as we get closer to the start of the school year.

School Medication Information

If your child requires medication during the school day, please be sure to obtain the required paperwork and detailed instructions from the Eader Health Office. For student safety, medication may not be kept in backpacks or on a student’s person while at school.

All medication must be stored and administered through the Health Office under the supervision of our school health clerk.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students.

Returning to School After Illness

To help keep our students and staff healthy, please review the following guidelines when deciding if your child is ready to return to school after being ill.

Students may return to school when:

• They have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication

• Vomiting, nausea, or diarrhea have been absent for 24 hours

• A communicable illness has been treated and the required treatment period has been completed

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school community healthy.

Reporting Student Attendance

If your child will be absent, please remember to notify the school by either calling our attendance line at (714) 962-2451 and leaving a message, or by emailing eaderattendance@hbcsd.us

Reporting absences promptly helps us keep accurate records, ensure student safety, and maintain clear communication between home and school.

Thank you for your support and partnership.

Parking Lot Safety & Efficiency

With only a single lane entering and exiting our school parking lot, please keep in mind that one car has the ability to severely impact and hold up the entire line. To help keep traffic moving and ensure safety:

• Please have your child prepared to leave the vehicle safely and quickly on the curbside (school side).

• Stay in your car at all times.

• Pull up as far as you can, even past the gate, so the maximum number of cars can unload along the curb.

• Do not pull in front of other cars if there is a hold up.

• Safety is always our top priority—thank you for your support.

Additional reminders:

• Please drive carefully and observe all traffic safety signs and speed limits around the school.

• When leaving the parking lot, right turns only are permitted.

• Do not park or leave your vehicle in any area marked with a red curb.

• Children should always enter and exit vehicles from the curbside only.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation in keeping our students safe and supporting the smooth flow of traffic in our Eader community.
