Attendance & Being On Time Always Matter
As I have shared previously, consistent attendance and arriving at school on time are incredibly important - not only for student learning, but also for our students’ social and emotional well-being.
When students return to school after an absence, they can experience feelings of stress, anxiety, and worry about what they missed and how they will catch up. Learning continues each day, and when a student is absent, they miss direct instruction, classroom discussions, assignments, activities, and experiences that cannot always be fully recreated. Our teachers are dedicated to helping students catch up, but missed instructional time still has an impact.
We absolutely understand that students get sick. When children are ill, they need to stay home, rest, and recover. Outside of illness and other unavoidable circumstances, however, we ask families to prioritize attendance and avoid scheduling vacations, trips to Disneyland, birthday outings, or other activities during school days whenever possible. A school year includes just 180 instructional days, leaving significant time throughout the year for vacations and special activities when school is not in session.
Being on time matters as well. When a student arrives late, they miss the beginning of instruction and classroom routines. A late arrival can also interrupt learning for the entire class and require the teacher to step away from instruction to help the arriving student get caught up.
Thank you for your continued commitment to having your child at school, on time, and ready to learn each day. Consistent attendance is one of the most important ways we can work together to help every student feel confident, connected, and reach their full potential.
Join Us for Our First School Assembly - Friday, September 25
Eader families are invited to join us for our first school assembly of the year on Friday, September 25, at 8:40 a.m. on the school blacktop.
We’ll share updates for the year, including information about the PTA Reflections Art Contest, Spirit Squad, and Glee Club. We’ll also introduce and celebrate our First Trimester Eader Leaders!
It will be a great opportunity to come together as a school community and hear about some of the exciting opportunities ahead for our students.
We hope to see you there!
Eader Beach Day - Sunday, September 27
Please note the flyer below for information pertaining to our upcoming Family Beach Day.
Please note that the location for Beach Day has been updated to TBD due to the impact of Hurricane Marie on Eader Beach. We will communicate the updated location by Friday, September 25. Thank you for your understanding!
Family Picnic on the Lawn - Thursday, October 1
Please save the date for our Family Picnic on the Lawn during Airshow Practice Day! Parents and guardians are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs and join their child for lunch on the Eader field.
Please see the information below for more information:
• Parking will be significantly impacted, and families should plan on parking in the surrounding neighborhoods. Please allow yourself ample time to find parking and walk to the location where you will meet your child. Arriving early is recommended, as we want to avoid any stress on our students if families are running late.
• Local restaurants are also typically overwhelmed on this day as several nearby schools hold similar events during Airshow Practice Day. If you plan to order food, please place your order well in advance. The easiest option may be to pack a lunch at home and walk or bike to school.
• Families will enter campus through the Eader Office and meet their child on the blacktop before walking to their designated area on the school field.
• All families should bring beach chairs or blankets for comfortable seating during the picnic.
• Parents with multiple children in the same lunch period are welcome to bring one child to the other’s location on the field so they can enjoy the picnic together. Please note that students will not be dismissed from class to join a sibling in a different lunch period.
• Families are welcome to stay until the end of their child's lunch period.
• All guests must exit through Gate 5 only.
• Finally, for on-campus activities that welcome parents, the expectation is that families enjoy the event and students remain in class until the final bell. Important instruction continues until the end of the day.
If early checkouts begin to take place during these events, we may need to reconsider offering these on-campus community experiences in the future.

Eader Dine-Out Fundraiser at Golden Spoon - Tuesday, October 6
Join us for our first dine-out fundraiser of the school year on Tuesday, October 6 at Golden Spoon! Stop by for a sweet treat while supporting Eader and our PTA.

Birthday Marquee Celebrations are Back!
We are pleased to share that our school marquee has been fixed, and we are once again able to celebrate student birthdays!
Birthday marquee forms will be sent home with students this Friday. In the meantime, please see the attached form if you would like to get a head start.
Thank you for your patience and for bearing with us at the beginning of the school year while we worked to get the marquee back up and running. We’re happy to have it back and look forward to celebrating our students’ birthdays once again.

Reflections Schoolwide Art Contest - A Message from the Eader PTA
Calling all artists! The reflections contest is coming up! This year's theme is "What my Culture Means to Me." Students can submit an art submission in the categories of visual arts, dance, photography, music composition and poetry. Students are able to turn in a submission in each of the categories. All submissions need to be submitted on Friday October 16th during drop off with a completed student entry form, linked here. Parking Lot Safety & Efficiency - Please Thoroughly ReviewWith only a single lane entering and exiting our school parking lot, please keep in mind that one car has the ability to severely impact and hold up the entire line. To help keep traffic moving and ensure safety: • Please have your child prepared to leave the vehicle safely and quickly on the curbside (school side). • Stay in your car at all times. • Pull up as far as you can, even past the gate, so the maximum number of cars can unload along the curb. • Do not pull in front of other cars if there is a hold up. • When leaving the parking lot, right turns only are permitted. • Do not park or leave your vehicle in any area marked with a red curb.
